One person builds and maintains these tools, in evenings and at weekends. The form below goes straight to them. There is no queue behind it, no ticket number, and no support desk — but every message is read.

Leave it blank and the message still arrives — there is just no way to answer it.

The more precisely a wrong answer is described, the faster it is fixed.

This is the one page on the site that sends anything anywhere. What you type above is stored so it can be read and answered; nothing else about you is recorded with it.

Reporting a wrong answer

This is the message worth sending. A calculator that is confidently wrong is worse than no calculator, so these get looked at before anything else. To make it reproducible, include:

  • The tool, or the URL of the page you were on.
  • The exact values you entered, including the units and any options you changed — compounding frequency, overtime threshold, ingredient, and so on.
  • The number the tool gave you.
  • The number you expected, and where it came from: a lender’s statement, a payslip, a published table, another calculator.
  • Your browser and device, if the problem looks like a display bug.

Most tools now carry their working under the result. Opening “How this was worked out” and pasting those lines in is usually enough on its own.

Suggesting a tool

Useful suggestions describe the situation rather than the tool: what you were trying to work out, what you tried instead, and what made the existing options unsatisfactory. A tool gets built when the sum is common, the arithmetic has a detail that other calculators get wrong, and the whole thing can run in the browser without sending your numbers to us.

Something about an advert

Advertising here is placed by Google AdSense rather than sold directly, so there is nothing to negotiate over placement or pricing. If a specific advertisement was misleading, offensive or broken, say which page you saw it on and roughly when. The ads are chosen by Google, but a particular one can be blocked from appearing here once it is clear which one you mean.

Privacy and data requests

Because nothing you type into a tool is transmitted to us or stored here, there is usually nothing to access, correct or delete. Requests under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA are still welcome and will be answered — in most cases the answer is an explanation of what does and does not exist, which the privacy policy sets out in full.

The form above is the one exception on the whole site: what you type into it is stored, so that it can be read and replied to.

What to expect

  • Replies usually take a few days and sometimes longer. This is a side project, so there is no service commitment behind that.
  • Bug reports get a reply even when the answer is “that is working as intended, and here is why” — provided you leave an address.
  • No financial, tax, legal, employment or medical advice, and no review of your particular mortgage, payslip or tax position. The tools are general-purpose arithmetic; the terms of use explain where that line sits.
